I just stood inside Tony's....my brain was on Fresh Seafood Overload! Like Cheryl E. said, it's truly wall to wall people & fresh Gulf Seafood,....swimmin', on ice & cookin' ! Cajun Cookin' goin' on everywhere. I just had to have a few minutes to take it all in. After regaining my senses, my cousin & I eased on over to the "get it & go" cooked food line, We ordered Muffaletta's, Boudin Balls & some Marinated Crab Claws to go. Ya can't sit & eat at Tony's. I wanted to sample everything! The smell of Gumbo, Fried Catfish, Crab Cakes, Crawfish Boiling, Shrimp.....it was almost more than I could take! Brain's On Overload ! Tony's is a Baton Rouge Institution! It's a Seafood Market & Grocery Store with a small "get it & go" cooked food store. I made sure to pick up a loaf of Bunny Bread, Blue Plate Mayo. & Remoulade Sauce. i know I'll be smooshin' some sort of seafood between my Fresh BB Bread & BP Mayo. in the next few days, that's for sure! There are police in the parking lot directing traffic. It's best to go during the day, if ya can. I highly recommend stopping by Tony's if you're ever in Baton Rouge! It's UnForgettable! The people are friendly & helpful! Be sure to pick up something to-go! See ya next time, Tony's!

Had I known that there was such a thing as crawfish boudin balls, I'd have gorged myself on them daily for the past year. The only unfortunate part of the discovery is that it took me waay too long to finally make it to Tony's. I must say, that I love having such good food made so fresh. The variety and high quality make it absolutely necessary to return again and again for Louisiana food that satisfies every one of the 30 or so people in line around you at any given time. So at least there's plenty of time to think about what to order.

Definitely a must try, food is fantastic, variety of everything, definitely will be back

  • Edward S.

Wow!!! The oysters were made to order (aout a 5-10 minute wait that was worth it). Service was friendly and helpful for the newby in line (me) Also, I was amazed at how many were buying prepared food in a seafood store at 4:00 in the afternoon. I'll be back with coworkers.

Wish I knew about this place sooner. Only complaint I had was when I ordered the women behind the counter had an attitude because I asked what was in certain containers. Forgive me for not recognizing your cajun cousine ladies! Take your boudin balls and shove'm where....oh wait don't do that, them jokers were good.

  • Ziran Z.

We got the Jambalaya plate here and an order of the boudin balls. As many other reviewers will tell you, Tony's boudin balls are probably as good as it gets in Louisiana. (We tried boudin balls from several other well reviewed restaurants, none of them were as good as Tony's, in our opinions.) The jambalaya was also very good, and the astonishingly low price makes this place a great deal for lunch. They deserve five stars for the boudin balls alone, but the rest of the food is just icing on the cake.

Ever in Baton Rouge area? Come here! The best baked fish & seafood boudin balls! So good, the only flaw is the line is so long but it's worth the wait!!

  • David S.

I went here on a Saturday around 1pm and it was packed, but I am sure it is like this at all hours of the day during the weekend. This was my first time here so I was surprised at the amount of people here and different items they actually served. I ordered 12 cajun boudin balls which I ate before I could even check out and pay for them....yea they were that good. I also saw that they sold frozen, but I would stick to the fresh ones. We also got a shrimp poboy and a crawfish pie while we were there for lunch. It was all equally scrumptious! The real reason I went to Tony's though was for the boiled crabs. I had to wait over 20 minutes for some hot ones to come out which would have been pretty long if I didnt have those boudin balls to keep me occupied. I will definitely be back though and next time I will probably buy about 50 boudin balls!!

I absolutely love this place. I have to travel from The Woodlands Tx to get there, but the 4 hrs drive is worth it when you know you're gonna have a great, well seasoned, absolutely delicious meal. On the next trip, I'm taking a cooler for those boudin balls and a variety of other great dishes! We Love Tony's!!!

  • Ken H.

Four of us ate there today and it was fantastic. I had the seafood gumbo and the oyster box. Others had catfish. All meals came with boudin ball fries and sweet Cole slaw. Good very good. Only criticism, they need picnic tables to eat at. All food is prepared to go.

Tony's Seafood Ltd. is the platinum standard for seafood in Baton Rouge. The ribs are peerless. The plate lunches never fail to satisfy. We often got our office party food here.

  • Blaine R.

Went pick up catering trays for holiday party's. I had my young son in tow. Not only was the food great but they had an employee bring my order to my truck.

  • David C.

This is my go to place for live or boiled crawfish. They always have the best prices and freshest seafood. When it comes to catfish, you can't get any fresher. This place has everything from hot plates, which includes the best stuffed crab in town, to fresh frog legs. They also have whole fresh fish that they clean how ever you to want. Boiled peanuts, beer, shrimp, alligator meat, sausage, boudin. They have it all. I love this place.

There is a lot to enjoy about Tony's seafood. First and foremost...the Boudin balls are delicious! Bring your out of town visitors to sample them, but remember to leave out mentioning what Boudin is made out of!!! It is probably helpful to make the distinction that Tony's Seafood is more of a Fish Market/Cajun Grocery then a restaurant. The plate lunches you get are to go. I did not see any outside seating the last time I was there. For the price range and selection, Tony's seafood probably has some of the better plate lunches and Cajun-style favorites you will find in North Baton Rouge. I love the fish market atmosphere and the local people. Without a doubt though they have the best fresh caught seafood you will find in the area. My roommate and I recently got a few bushels of oysters here which were delicious.

No ambiance what so ever, just good, cheap, and quick southern food. What else do you need?

    (4)
  • Yogi B.

Tonys seafood is the best place in baton rouge for some real good seafood. Everything is out of this world, my personal favorites are boudin balls, seafood gumbo, muffellatas and crawfish ettouffee!

  • Alexandra R.

Great place to buy raw and boiled/fried seafood. My favorite place for boiled crawfish, too. Everyone who works here is always friendly and helpful. I recently discovered the crab and shrimp seafood- which has been a treat for lent! I love the boiled crawfish and shrimp- when in season of course. You can also purchase a sack (yes literally a burlap sack) of raw unshucked oysters for a pretty cheap price. They also sell containers of raw oysters, which is very convenient for frying. I haven't eaten my way through many of the prepared food. Honestly- the long line always makes me move along, but that must be a sign they're doing something right! I love the $1.99 fried catfish sandwiches they often have. It's a soft bun with the thinest fried catfish- and its a lot of catfish. If these are out, you bet I'm going home with a couple- i just can't resist!

  • Trevor R.

As I saw in many many other post, the BOUDIN BALLS! I normally am not a fan of super-market lunches or kitchens but Tony's has so much food traffic that everything is fresh and delicious. Most markets you have issues with certain undesirable foods that sit but that is not the case at Tony's. Last time I had the Gumbo, mac n' cheese, and mashed taters and gravy. It was as good as any other authentic louisiana cuisine. We order at least 50 balls everytime we go

    (4)
  • Florida G.

I actually think they should add one more dollar sign to the price category; they were not cheap. Overall, the food is good but I haven't gotten comfortable enough to go to the raw seafood section for some reason.

  • Susannah B.

This is by far my favorite place in Baton Rouge. I moved away for college, but every time I come home I make my way to Tony's. They have by far the best boudin balls you will find in Baton Rouge, and probably most of Louisiana even! If you haven't tried their crawfish étouffée, you MUST.

  • DeMink H.

I been coming to this place every since I was a child. So many things I love from this place, right off top I have to say the seafood boudin balls are the best.

  • Keith F.

This was my first time, but certainly not my last. The food is very tasty. I would go back just for the fried shrimp and broccoli and cheese casserole. Omg that casserole...... so....good. The staff was a hit and miss experience from the super friendly ladies in the hot food area, to the cashier who didn't say anything to us. We also bought a pound of shrimp to cook. The guy who scooped it out was a seafood ninja. Everything is fairly priced. We also arrived right before the rush, which is huge. I do wish they would use compost friendly packaging. I mean it was a lot of styrofoam! Check this place out though.

  • Greg P.

This place rocks! I was in Baton Rouge for a day and was looking for a place to get some take-out so I could go back to my hotel and work (yeah I know I have no life). Little did I know I would hit the mother lode! The only problem I had was deciding what to order. So many delicious things to choose from. Catfish, crabs, shrimps, jambalaya, chicken, turkeywings, ribs, gumbo, and way way more. Finally decided on crawfish etouffee, collard greens, dirty rice and cornbread. All excellent. Cool atmosphere too. Gotta love a place that places gator heads next to the giant jars of mayonaise and behind the Coke machine! (see pic, Thanks Joe)

One of my favorites in BTR. I'm not sure where to start. Everything is good. I always stop here for lunch on my way to the airport.

  • Joe S.

A fish market / store with a cafeteria style line for some of the best smelling cajon and creole seafood my nose has had the pleasure of meeting. Upon entering the market it took me a few moments to find the take out food. I found it and began looking over the over-counter menu and checking out the food on the trayline. There were a TON of people working behind the counter and plenty of customers as well, however nobody ever acknowledges your presence unless you speak up. I ordered some catfish and boudin balls, which were absolutely delicious!! They give you huge amounts but the customer service is pitiful. Only the cashier was reasonably pleasant. I guess when you have a great product and a huge customer base, you don't need to be friendly to the customers.

  • Jackie D.

Great prepared foods section and tons of fresh seafood (shellfish, fish filets) plus anything you need for an authentic Louisiana meal. Crab boil, andouille, and who could forget a delicious Hubig pie! My favorites that you cannot miss are the boiled crawfish (best take-out crawfish in Baton Rouge), the crab augratin in the frozen prepared food section, and the shrimp dip. You have to check this place out if you find yourself in Baton Rouge and you love seafood.

    (4)
  • Mike R.

Absolutely authentic southern food and fresh, fresh fish. Every item has its own distinct flavor from the slightly sweet hush puppies, the tang of salt on the fried shrimp or the hint of cayenne on the catfish. Mixed greens done right... green beans to match. Will definitely be back my next trip through BTR.

  • Meg D.

I had been hearing great things about Tony's so I decided to stop by and give it a try. My friend and I bought 7 lbs of boiled crawfish and our only regret was that we didn't buy twice the amount! Absolutely delicious! Fresh and well seasoned, just like crawfish should be. I would highly recommend Tony's to any crawfish lovers!

  • Dominique P.

This food is to die for! I wouldn't even mind dying if I had Tony's seafood in my stomach. I'm all the way from Seattle and I visited the market 3 days in a row. The boudin balls are something I will be ordering as soon as I get back to Seattle. The crawfish étouffée was great, with dirty rice and green beans on the side. I couldn't stop thinking about this food. I'm in love. I will be trying the peach cobbler before I leave.

  • Dominic E.

I had the pleasure of coming here today and am glad I did. I tried the fried chicken, fried shrimp, broccoli casserole, dirty rice, corn bread, and Cajun balls. Everything was delicious! I came just in time because when I got there no one was in line at the hot food station...but when I was leaving EVERYBODY was parking and walking in. The fried chicken was crispy, flavorful, and juicy! The fried shrimp was deliciously spiced! But the star of this show as the broccoli casserole...it was perfect. I want to go back and get a pint of that and fried shrimp. The corn bread was wonderful. The Cajun balls and dirty rice were...ok. The dirty rice kind of tasted like meat loaf broken up in to rice...good meat loaf mind you, but it wasn't the flavor profile I was used with dirty rice...but to be honest, before moving to Baton Rouge my flavor profile for dirty rice was from Popeye's. The service from the ladies working the hot food station was fast, friendly, and helpful. I'm dying to come back here to try other things!

  • Shane C.

The boudin balls, i guess they really boudin poppers were pretty good the fried catfish was decent as well were the mustard greens fried shrimp sucked. Would have been a lot more pleasurable if the ladies working the deli line were a little nicer they were rude and made you feel dumb

  • Quynh D.

We overheard these ladies talking about Tony's seafood, and naturally, it made me want to try it! I had no idea what to expect, so when I walked into a seafood bonanza I was surprised. Truly, the a concept that made so much sense! Seafood anyway you want it. From the left of the store is hot food, to the right of the store is fresh, uncooked seafood. My thoughts are scrambled trying to review this place because my thoughts were scrambled being in it. Everything is loud, fast paced and exciting! In the hot food line, it moves very, very fast. You don't really get much time to decide what you want because the people in front and back of you are antsy to get your food, and the ladies plating the food are ready to get it done. Your food gets bagged at the end of the line, and then you head to the registers in the middle to pay for your food. I didn't get a chance to try the boiled shrimp, and crawfish isn't in season right now so I'll definitely be back for the right season. The hot food is delicious, but sadly, there is NO WHERE to sit and eat your food. We live quite a ways from Tony's seafood so I didn't get to enjoy the food as much as I would have if they had seating. (like I said I had no idea what to expect). Although the hot food is good, I won't be coming back for it because of the distance. I'll come back to try the boiled seafood though.

Oh My! I visited Baton Rouge last weekend for my fraternity's regional conference. My brothers and I went to Tony's last Thursday Night. We were like the crabs in the tank. Rookies. We didn't really know how to order. But I had whole catfish, red beans and rice, broccoli and rice casserole with hush puppies. I didn't really get to eat it because I had to attend a meeting when I returned to the hotel. On Friday evening, we went to another restaurant but it was crowded. We left that restaurant and drove to the other side of town to Tony's. We had it figured out this time. Whenever I am in Baton Rouge, I will always visit Tony's. If you want good fresh Louisiana cuisine, just visit Tony's. There is something for your taste.

It's still the best and hopefully it will stay this way. Even after a slight hike in prices, this popular market is as good as it gets in Baton Rouge. There is no place like it and any place that comes close charges more than they ever could. They have it all, from the marketplace for the best Southern / Cajun specialties to the the freshest seafood in town. I've already mentioned that their Cajun style Boudin Balls are fantastic, with just the right amount of boudin sausage, rice, and spices all in every ball. The other Boudin Balls stuffings (Crawfish, Shrimp & Crab) are good as well, but the Cajun just has a little bit more flavor. Other things people should consider trying are their regional specialties like the Po Boys and Muffulettas. The live fish area near the entrance are all fresh, especially with the all popular catfish, all primed for picking. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food / quality fish, all of which are quality and delicious. The service is helpful, fast, and very friendly. From every corner there are a handful of workers hustling and bustling to get patrons the best they can offer. Plenty of locals come here and are addressed on a first name basis from many of the workers here. That alone tells me this is more than just a seafood market, but an establishment adored by the community of Baton Rouge.

Mother of God, this place is awesome! Driving cross country, hubby and I couldn't pass thru LA without getting our first taste at a real Po'Boy. He got Oyster & I got the Shrimp, which I promptly inhaled as soon as my chubby little fingers unwrapped the holy grail of sandwiches. The shop itself is pretty impressive, super fresh fish counter, grocery area & a big ass deli area. If I ever get the chance to go back to LA, I'm def stopping here again!

  • Ramon R.

Had to, HAD TO stop in Louisiana to eat while on a road trip from California. Many places were closed due to it being Sunday and apparently in the South, only Heathen businesses are open on Sundays. But this place was open and was a miracle in itself. It did not disappoint at all. As soon as you walk in you are hit by the smell of fresh as can be seafood. The atmosphere was very lively and the market itself was fun. I ordered an oyster Po'boy and it was better than I could have hoped my first authentic Po'boy could have been. My wife had a shrimp Po'boy which tasted even better. I also tried some crawfish boudain balls. Not bad at all. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely make a stop at Tony's.

Always Awesome. Highly recommend the Catfish Tony with baked vs. fried catfish, covered with crawfish étouffée - Yummy. Dirty rice is great along with all the other sides. This is real Cajun homestyle cooking - All fresh and delicious.

  • Chris M.

Great place to get a cheap but good dinner. Make sure to get there fairly early in the evening as it gets very crowded around dinner. My all time favorite from here is the Catfish Tony which is fried catfish topped with crawfish ettoufee. Also a great place to pick up raw seafood if you prefer to cook it yourself.

  • Maurice H.

The stars are for the food. If I could rate the customer service I'll rate it 2.5.. I know it's Sunday and it's busy but don't take it out on the customers. I shouldn't notice your bad mood. All in all its a great place for food. My favorite is the Tony's Plate. The fish is the best fish I've had in years.

So Rob was sitting around my house the other day and said he wanted a poboy. "Where you think I can get that from?" "First of all, your grammar is terrible and secondly, I'm not really sure. This isn't NOLA, so our options are limited. There's a minimart down the street that says they have poboys and Chelsea's might do one too." Rob responds, "I bet Tony's Seafood has them" "I wouldn't know. I've never been", I reply. "What!? You've NEVER been?" "Nope." "Never, ever?!" "Nope" "You've lived in Baton Rouge for 15 years and never been to Tony's Seafood?" "Did I stutter?" This went on for some time until I finally relented and agreed to take the ride to Plank Rd to see the mythical Valhalla that is Tony's Seafood. This place definitely knows what it's doing and is BR famous for sure. Sheriffs were directing traffic in and out of a very busy parking lot. When we got inside I was punched in the olfactories with an extremely pungent one-two of fish and seafood. Instantly turned off, I resigned myself to going through the motions until Rob was satiated. Thankfully I got used to the fishy smell and was able to peruse peacefully. They have a lot of different kinds of fish here. Catfish, snapper, flounder, bass, trout, goo, and probably a couple others. Look for clear eyeballs to ensure freshness. I saw a couple clear ones, but there were more cloudy than not. This doesn't mean the fish is bad, but it isn't as fresh as you would like it to be. Many sizes of shrimp, both head on and off were available as well. Boiled crawfish was $5.49/lb, which is high...but it's also December. They have a very bountiful serving line with smoked and grilled meats, side items and yes...poboys. I didn't eat, but Rob enjoyed his oyster/catfish sandwich. We did get a rib to try in our unending search for the perfect Baton Rouge rib. Pretty good. Better than Smoking Aces. Cookbooks, beer, frozen fare and tchotchkes fill out the rest of the store. Expect crowds b/c this place is always hopping. The operation as a whole seems well oiled and specialized in getting customers in and out with what they need. I'm going to come back and get a whole snapper to toss on the grill. Yum.

This review goes from REALLY GOOD to OMG, WHAT WAS I THINKING!? Take note: this is a supermarket AND a to go lunch AND a seafood market! First off, their Cajun Boudin Balls were so good!! Well, then again, this is my first time ever having Boudin Balls so there is a little bias there but overall, they were the best! They were fried to perfection where it wasn't too oily and it had that crunchy sound to it when you bite it the first time. It had plenty of flavor and it was definitely more than what I expected. Next up is the Dirty Rice. I don't understand why I ordered it despite it's name but out of curiosity and a craving for rice, I attempted to give it a try. It was delicious! It had rice, pieces of chicken, bellpeppers, and onions. The third is the crawfish! I had a hard time peeling them and it barely had any meat in there! Each crawfish was about half of an index finger! The flavor was great but the smell was so potent! I wish I had some sauce to complement it with and it would have been pefect. Lastly, I had the Seafood Gumbo and I'm not going to order that again! Omg, I just wanted to barf because there were too much okra in it to the point where it looked and tasted like slime. The okra definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, if you love okra, then the Seafood Gumbo is your best friend. PS Parking is a hassle despite that it has a huge parking lot! Get there around 1130am for lunchtime and you'll be fine!

I came here for the boudin balls on a recommendation. I got some of each type -- they were all delicious, although VERY salty. High in flavor, though. I didn't get to try any of the fresh seafood, as I was driving through to go back home to Texas. I would stop by again :) Just need to keep in mind that their boudin balls probably shouldn't be eaten by themselves, unless one is equipped with a huge bottle of water, haha.

Fabulous selection in seafood/meat counter and the hot plate line. Fantastic service. When I asked for a bag of ice the cashier told me to bring in my ice chest and they'd ice my purchase. Even carried it out to the car. Will stop every time I'm in Baton Rouge.

On my recent visit to Louisiana, we were told we "had" to eat at Tony's Seafood. When we finally found it, we were shocked that it was basically the deli of a grocery store! However, we decided to still order and just eat in our car. The only downside is they have no seating inside. The food was exceptional, quick, and priced appropriately. We ended up going again on our way back to the airport at the end of the week. Big fan.

When you see police officers directing traffic in and out of the parking lot you know you're in the right place. Tony's is such an institution in Baton Rouge that the other fish markets (are there others?) might as well not exist...no shade intended. It's just that Tony's is the go-to place in town for fresh seafood and you can also find pre-packaged frozen foods and hot bar items too. Fresh seafood - The catfish are so fresh they greet you at the front door. I'm not kidding. There's a huge tank of catfish near the door. Sometimes the catfish are so unruly that they jump out of the water and flop around on the floor. It's entertaining to watch. Pre-packaged frozen foods - You could literally close your eyes and start plucking random items out of the frozen foods case. No matter what you pick it's pretty much guaranteed to be the right answer: stuffed bell peppers, bisque, gumbo, etouffée and more. Hot bar items - The crawfish boudin balls are the best I've EVER tasted and don't get me started about the boiled crawfish. Too bad they're not always in season. Note that Tony's is carryout only so there's nowhere to sit and enjoy your meal, but you're not there for ambiance...just for a very authentic taste of Louisiana.

So I'm in Baton Rouge for a week and decided to ask the local yelpers, "when you think of Louisiana, what foods come to mind and where should I go get it..." A Baton Rouge yelper was kind enough to point me to Tony's Seafood Ltd. to grub on some mud bugs! (Thanks again, Jay!) I must say, I was a little apprehensive about trying out the crawfish... ... I kind of have a really bad allergy to shrimp and I've heard breathing is really important for living. My friend bought 3 lbs and after paying for them, we immediately went outside where he cracked one open for me... I bit off a piece of it and chewed on it for 10 minutes and waited to see... after 10 minutes, I swallowed and waited another 10. Still alive and kicking... I immediately ordered my own 3 lbs, plus a sack of potatoes and some extra cajun spice. 3 lbs, and a couple of cold brews later... I was a happy man. The mud bugs never had a chance... ------------------------------------------ Tony's is a cross between a liquor store and a fish market. Catfish tanks, cajun food to go, and beers! How can you go wrong?

Tony's has all kinds of fresh, frozen and prepared seafood. Prepared food is Takeout only. Best things to order. Capt Tonys plate which is fried catfish and étouffée over rice. Whatever you order make sure to get a side of Boudin Balls. They are about $2 for 4 and they are known for making the best. Nice selection of Boudin Sausage and Boudin Chicken in the Frozen section to take home. You can also get frozen crawfish, alligator, turtle, rabbit, frogs legs and duck. This place is a don't miss. Great for a quick lunch if you are arriving or departing the BTR airport around lunchtime.

By the long line of locals, you can tell Tony's is a local's joint. We were looking for a place for lunch and tried this place. The hot deli is where it's happening! Basically, the best way to sample their extensive deli offerings is to get the 1 meat and 2 sides platter. We tried the grilled catfish, fried catfish, green beans, broccoli casserole, dirty rice, greens and fried okra. Out of these, the fried catfish had the best crispy batter and freshness. The greens were also very nice although even the vegetables have bits of meat in them. We also got one of the seafood boudin sausages and it was heavenly. One platter is more than enough for two people. The seafood in the shop looked fresh and they also had hot boiled potatoes and corn to take home. The only downside is that there's nowhere to sit in the joint and everything's takeout.

As a Georgia boy, Tony's makes me almost wish I lived in Louisiana! Friggin awesome. Fresh seafood, boiled seafood, even cajun dish you can imagine along with all your pertinent grocery items too. It's one stop shopping for all things Louisiana cuisine! The boiled crawfish are the best I've ever had. The cafeteria style line has all the goodies you could want from crawfish balls to boudin to red beans and etoufee. All delicious. A must if you're in Baton Rouge!

Hey, Hey, one of my favorite stops in Northern Baton Rouge. As a former child of Glen Oaks, Tony's Seafood has always been a part of the family. Many of our most memoralbe dinners can be accredited to us speeding to Tony's trying to catch them before they closed for the evening. AFter work, i hate and I mean hate cooking. So what is a young able-bodied professional to eat? Tony's! I like grabbing an order of crawfish boudin balls, if you come around 5 pm, they are really fresh. These are a great snack to eat during the 5 pm Airline highway traffic. When I am craving more than a snack, I also order from the cafe line, which serves hot and ready food to go. The whole catfish is amazing, but cost 4.99 for one, and 7.99 if you want one whole catfish and two sides. Not bad. Hmm..what else? I also grab a 1/2 pint of crawfish etoufee with rice for a little over two bucks, which is good for a hot and ready line. Tony's is a seafood market, so you can also grab crawfish and shrimp with the head on hot or cold by the pound. If you are feeling adventours, don't forget to add a bag of season corn, it's located near the check out counters. The flavors are so amazing and the corn is sweet as can be. If you want good food for a decent price for your next traffic jam, take the Evangeline exit on I 10 and turn left at Plank. It's well worth every minute and penny.

I love this place. Last time I went, I bought 3 lbs of boiled crawfish. They were boiled to perfection (easy to peel). The managers and owners are extremely friendly. Tony's Seafood has been open for years and is a local favorite. I would recommend Tony's to anyone, especially people from out of town.

Eat their hot fresh food!!! Bad for you because it's fatty...good for you because it's super tasty. Found myself stopping frequently for their boudin balls paired with a piece of their pie. So good!

I heard from good sources that this place is home to the best boudin balls in all of Baton Rouge and it certainly did not disappoint. As a deli and seafood market it has everything you could think of for both hot, cold and fresh seafood. It's almost a tourist attraction with the amount of spectators at the live catfish tank and with friendly staff and a solid assortment of products this place is tops. Don't ever leave this place without including boudin balls in your purchase.

Tony's is completely carry out. There are boxes of food on the right and dinners on the left. You'll see when you get there. We got food from both and all was delicious. My husband and I are both big eaters and could easily have split a meal .Plenty of food. One warning,: this is seriously in the hood.

This place was located near my law school and we would come here once a week for their to-go prepared meals. The shrimp Po-boys and Catfish Tony are my favorite meals to eat whenever I'm in Baton Rouge, I'm not a big spicy food eater but Tony's always makes it right. They also sell frozen food such as gumbo or alligator sausage. I always get their desserts and cornbread- clearly I go all out whenever I'm there. The prices aren't that bad but don't come during lunch time or after church it will be packed!

So being from the north... Michigan and working as a part or Georgia pacific I travel quite frequently. Tonight I broke free from my group and found some excellent crawfish. I ordered 5 pounds which filled me up, the spice was very good not burning and not weak. The crawfish themselves were pretty good size which made harvesting the meat very easy. It was a great experience. I had the red velvet cake as well, moist and sweet. Great place, if I come back, I will be back! God bless the South and it's food!

Every time I have a chance to venture to Baton Rouge, normally Tony's Seafood is on my list of visits before leaving the city. While living in Baton Rouge I came to know this wonderful place specializing in seafood and some great southern cooking. I have yet to have a disappointing episode visiting Tony's. Here is the lowdown: Parking: There is ample parking in the main lot and conveniently right next to the Tony's is a separate lot. Also, because I'm not the only one who enjoys Tony there is literally always security directing traffic. There is really no reason for accidents, parking jams, or parking issues of any sorts. Be careful when approaching Tony's especially if coming from Hollywood and Plank, you can miss the turn in so make sure to be conscious and pay attention to provide even more ease and closer parking to entrance. Seafood: Upon walking into this location the smell of delicious seafood will be overwhelming. The seafood is highly seasoned to perfection. I never had an issue of it being bland nor too spicy it tends to be the right mixtures of both worlds especially for someone like me who doesn't like spicy food. Keep in mind during crawfish season prepare to possibly wait for your orders because everyone else has the same idea as you and lines can get a bit long at times. Hot Food: This section of Tony's is cafeteria style. There will be a line of people to fill all your food desires with such goodies as stuffed bell peppers, catfish (which is so yummy and tasty), macaroni and cheese (just the right amount of thick), okra, peach cobbler as a lot more. You can get a great meal between 7.99/9.99. I really love this location. I'm normally in and out with little to no wait and even short wait times in the summer months. When in Baton Rouge check this location out.

catfish tony with bbq beans and mac with texas toast.....A-Mazing.. some of the best seafood in town. Reasonable prices and it's even great the next day warmed up. I also get the crawfish which is always perfectly seasoned.. I've never heard anyone complain about their meal from tony's being sub-par...keep it up tony!

I used to purchase my fish at Whole Foods.... now I buy exclusively at Tony's... one trip there and seeing all of the FRESH fish and other local items, my mind was blown! The prices are better than fair... the quality is as good as I have ever seen... the fish counter folk are helpful and give great advice. Yes, it is busy.. but who cares!! I will not bother to look for another seafood shop.

Really great place for quick, good food. First impression, the horrible smell of the fresh fish being housed. It goes away once you get to the back to order your food though. Staff is pleasant and knowledgeable, answered all my crazy questions regarding the entrees offered. Everything I ordered I would definitely order again, except the corn bread.

The day after Thanksgiving was the wrong one to drop in at Tony's. I was already stuffed to the gills. The smell of everything good going on in that kitchen drove me insane! They offer a variety of every delectable thing you can imagine associated with creole cooking. Yum and more yum! Thankfully, the market section of the store is awesome as well. You can find all types of Louisiana hot sauce, gumbo base and red beans, not to mention pick up boudin and a nice stuffed, deboned chicken. As this was my first visit to Louisiana, I was amazed at the options. It was hard to tear away from the store without trying to purchase everything in sight. Thankfully, my wallet, tummy and luggage would not allow that! I highly recommend stopping by Tony's for a quick hot lunch or some kitchen staples. You can't go wrong here.

Yes, the hype is slightly warranted and this is TAKEOUT ONLY. The location/parking lot sucks (no getting around that). The service is not so good (employees hate their jobs and complaining). The most important thing is the food IMO. The food here generally doesn't offend people because they have an assortment of food options. This is like a larger and more refined version of Piccadilly's mixed The Table is Bread Restaurant. Be careful your bill can get high very fast. NOTE: The pork ribs are good but not authentically smoked.

This is a Baton Rouge tradition out on Plank Road. I go to Tony's at least once, sometimes twice, a week to stock up on fresh seafood. And the seafood is super fresh. Some is so fresh they'll scoop it out of the tank and kill it, gut it, and filet it in front of you. Nothing says 'top of the food chain' more than that. If you're there, might as well stop and get a plate in the hot food line. I've never had anything there that wasn't good. Baked catfish is superb. The stuffed peppers (only have them on certain days) are also out of this world. If this is your first visit, just note they only offer take-out and there is no place there to eat. Check out the frozen section as well. I sometimes stock up on fish they've frozen. They also have gumbo, shrimp pasta, stuffed peppers, Cajun stuffed chicken, etc in the freezer so you can fill your freezer with really good food.

Whenever I visit friends in South Louisiana, I simply must have crawfish. Two nights this week my friends picked up crawfish at Tony's. What a treat. It was perfectly seasoned and very delicious. I was very happy.

Love buying crawfish and shrimp from Tony's... I tend to stay away from the already prepared food because the ordering process is a nightmare in my book. If I want crawfish balls, I have to wait till the end. If I want something else or ordering for my kids, the employees have a fit and give dirty looks because they have to put something in the box outside the norm.. Geez, my bad! I go to TOny because of the great prices on shrimp, fish and crawfish... but stay away from the archaic bar..LOL

Crawfish boiled shrimp were pretty awesome. Boudin balls are a must but don't get the seafood ones. Crawfish are seasoned well. Catfish batter is so good and fried perfectly.

Love this place. Friendly folks. Food is out of this world great. The ladies serving the buffet line I would adopt in a heartbeat. I ordered crawfish but then realized it may have been cooked with shrimp to which I am deathly allergic ... Rather than act miffed, they truly were worried for me and went out of their way to be nice. The jambalaya and broiled catfish was to die for :). My only suggestion is that Tony put a few tables around, even just stand ups do one can eat there. But this place is authentic as it gets !!

You want raucous happy crowd? Go to Tony's Seafood in Louisiana on Good Friday! Wow it was alive both people and fish! Upon arriving the efficient security guard directed us to a parking spot in the massive parking lot of organized confusion. We made our way to the entrance with the other revelers - open the door - and BAM. Wall to wall people, fish, sounds and smells. It took a moment to orient my senses. One section is the biggest live catfish tank I have ever seen. Then a station with freshly cooked boil and finally a section with hot prepared foods. Tony's also carries dry goods. We divide and conquer. I head to the hot food line and buy jambalaya, gumbo, bread pudding, peach cobbler (OK I bought everything) and of course Tony's famous Boudin Balls. We also pick up 3lbs of just boiled crawfish. On the way out I grab beignet mix and a huge bag of boil seasoning and yeah and the t-shirt. The check out lines and food lines move very well and we were in and out in no time. Note: you cannot eat at Tony's. So we take the food away. Everything was AMAZING!!! What an experience - a little food Mardi Gras in Baton Rouge. Check it out - you will love it!

I actually came across this place after picking something up at Jack's Seafood. Boy am I glad I did, this is a one stop shop. Where you can get a wide variety of seafood on one side of this place and hot plate lunches on the other side. I purchased the BBQ Chicken (white meat), corn and dressing. The chicken was a little dry, but pretty tasty. It was well seasoned (not at all salty) and had a nice smokey flavor to it, not at all over powering. The corn and dressing were good. It's not often that you go to a place where you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. This is one of these places the customer service was really good. The customers in the place were really friendly also.

Best in Baton Rouge for anything seafood in my opinion. I bring any non-Baton Rouge people there to experience the best of BR (even though that is a short list). But you can't go wrong with Tonys... You bring what they are serving home.

  • Eric G.

I had multiple people who saw my bag from Tony's say the same thing that I'm telling you now. "You can't go wrong with Tony's" I went twice while on a business trip to Baton Rouge. I had the ribs, and the fried chicken. Both were well prepared and good value for the money. For about $10 you can get a 'plate' with a main dish, two sides, and a bread. The food was definately of good quality and quantity. I also tried the corn, mac and cheese, chease broccoli rice, and cornbread. I have to say that the cheese broccoli rice was my favorite of everything. The ordering process is a little bit harsh, but they only sell 'to go' and they get alot of people through a buffet style line very quickly, so this is a great choice for a fast but tastey to go meal. The store alos has a nice selection of fish fry related products, drinks, and other very southern snacks.

My family and I were in town for a wedding and the hotel clerk suggested we go there. WOW is all I can say all the fresh and cooked seafood, cajun food and home style foods that you can imagine. It was also a store with many awesome items to purchase. I can not wait to go back an revisit Tony's. When you go in take a step back and take it all in and then decide what you would like to order. We ordered a little of everything they had in the hot food line and it was all excellent. You can pick your meal fresh or pick it already cooked from bba, meatloaf, fried chicken, baked and fried fish, shrimp boiled or fried, hot crawfish by the lb, mashed pot., mac and cheese and many more items to choose from and at the end of the line, don't forget to pick up boudain (3 varieties) and some boudain balls. Almost forgot about the red bens and rice and the gumbo and jambalya. It was all fantastic.

Went 7miles out of our way on a road trip home, and it was well worth it! Very clean grocery store/deli...and food line. It was so busy, but the line was quick. We bought boiled crawfish, boudin balls, dirty rice, red beans and rice, hush puppies, cornbread, boudin sausage and bread pudding. Everything was great, but the variety boudin balls (crawfish, seafood, and pork) were the bomb! Super crispy hush puppies and red beans and rice with cornbread...get ready for a bit of Cajun heaven!! We will definitely go out of our way again for Tony's!

This is exactly the type of thing I miss about Louisiana. Tony's Seafood is the best seafood market I've ever been to! Every return trip to Louisiana ends with a stop at Tony's to get one of their travel boxes filled with goodies. They'll pack them for you right there, with all the ice packs and everything, for less than ten dollars. If you're going for the prepared food, you'll be good with anything you get. I'll recommend the fried catfish and shrimp, but everything's good. Oh, and their craklin' is AMAZING! Can't get that in NYC.

  • Ashley L.

I don't know why Baton Rouge natives seem to love this place! The boiled seafood seems as if they simply add crab boil to water and nothing else. A true South Louisiana native knows there are many other seasonings and spices and must go into a boil. I am from Slidell, LA and when I moved to Baton Rouge, the locals suggested this place to me and I was quite disappointed. To make matters worse, when i asked for boiled crabs, the salesman told me "you can't buy hot crabs with food stamps"....WHAT?!!! How judgemental! I do not nor have I ever used food stamps and why would they assume that of me. There had been no indication that i was using food stamps other than the fact that at the time I was 8 months pregnant. I was even holding my chase debit card in my hand! I was so offended, I will never return.

This place is amazing. I LOVE (LOVE! LOVE!) their shrimp okra stew, crawfish etoufee, macaroni, and cajun boudin balls. Oh, and their cheesy broccoli rice is delish beyond all measure. The portions are a perfect (I always have leftovers!) and service is fast. If you prefer to cook your own food, Tony's also has a grocery area with a great selection of harder-to-find Cajun-typed stuffs. Like alligator meat! And turtle meat! And, of course, spices and seasonings galore. Did I mention that I love this place?

It's probably not fair for me to give a review because I walked into Tony's for one thing and one thing only... ...cajun boudin balls!! AND THEY WERE AMAAAAZING!! This was my first time to LA but luckily my boyfriend had the wherewithal to bring me here for the boudin and my life has forever been changed. I'm sure everything else tastes amazing but I can't vouch for that lol

I live in Atlanta, GA and I came here during a brief business trip to the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area in December 2012 after listening to a recommendation from a local to come here for lunch. One day I ordered the BBQ Combo (comes with 3 ribs, sausage, breast or leg) for about around $10 from the (Deli). The other day I ordered two pounds of boiled, seasoned crawfish for market price at the time ($4.49/lb) from the (Market). The portions this place serves are pretty decent for what you pay. I really enjoyed the crawfish. You gotta try it while you're in Louisiana. The food you order here is to-go (there's no place to sit down and eat), but it's still worth it!

We went here after reading the reviews on Yelp and hearing almost everyone we knew swear by it. But though I liked the food, I will probably restrict myself to eating it once a month. Why, you ask? It's because of the copious amounts of salt in the food! I think eating there once is enough to satisfy an entire month's sodium requirement for the body. The place is definitely awesome for seafood lovers---piles of fresh fish for the taking. However, I found the food counter arrangement a tad confusing. No instructions posted about how the thing works--I guess they are really famous and they expect everyone to know it. Also, since I am new to seafood, I wished their displays were better labeled. I got a box with Tony's catfish smeared liberally with gravy (the best item in my box), steamed green beans, shrimp po'boys and boudin balls and mashed potatoes and rice. I wanted the sausage jambalaya too, but in the confusion of ordering, I think my request was lost somewhere. I ate some of the stuff for lunch, but couldn't finish it, and had the leftovers for dinner. Good stuff, overall, but I wish they'd go easy on the salt.

I have a love/hate relationship with Tony. Some things are really good and some things are fairly bad. Here is the lowdown: The Great: The fresh fish and seafood. There are many diffrenet kinds of fish and shrimp and they are just beautiful. I have only seen this kind of quality in a handful of markets in New Orleans. The Good: The cafeteria style counter features like twenty ladies ready to serve you but you better know what you want or they'll bob you on the side of the head. They have a good bit of good stuff here with the best being the crawfish etouffe, the jambalaya, the stuffed peppers, and the greens. The chicken gumbo is also pretty good. The peach cobbler filling is delish. The crawfish are good yet a bit overrated in these reviews. Still worth eating if you are already there. And the price is right on all the aforementioned. The Bad: The peach cobbler crust is like doughy, nasty. The bread puding is not too good. They put this crummy cheese on top of the green peppers. I take it off and still eat them. The place is trying to make itself a little more upscale in an effort to get more people like me in there (I guess), but they have not gone far enough. They have green tea as of late but it is made by Coca Cola. It sucks. With so many brands out there...come on! They now have Dos Equis beer...good addition but they only carry the light in the singles. Let's get some dark ones. They have Heineken but no German beers. Then shouldn't we have at least one local beer like Abita? Come on! And with that awesome fish I would not mind taking a nice Sauvignon Blanc home with me.Yeah I know...you do not have to tell me...I am a spoiled brat. The ladies at the counter should learn to smile a bit more and be a little friendlier. But I do not envy their jobs...it's a tough one. The Horrible: You have been warned. If you buy it you will have wasted your money because it is not edible. And if you eat it, you just might ruin the rest of your delicious meal. The Seafood Gumbo is the worst I have ever had. I do not think it is made with a roux. It is like a slimy okra soup that tastes and smells foul. When I first got it I knew it once I looked at it.. I still tasted it. I should not have. I tasted it for you so you would not have to. They must have used some cornstach to thicken it. and give it a light color and viscosity (I like a milky gooey substance...

Stepping inside Tony's brings back childhood memories, memories of my life after Katrina and memories of food prep for every family reunion I have ever attended. I had not been back to Tony's since I moved away a few years ago and I have to say it...this place makes me happy. My coworkers and I perused the shelves and filled our arms with fish fry and frozen boudin balls until we could no longer deny the pull of the deli line. I had the crawfish etoufee, mac n cheese, broccoli cheese rice some cajun boudin balls. I could eat my weight in boudin balls. To top it all I off I threw in an apple Hubig's pie and we headed to the stone benches on Southern's campus to marvel at the power of the MS river and gorge ourselves. Everything was salty, tasty goodness and I will definitely be getting some jambalaya the next time I'm here. It was amazing and tasted like I remember. This place is truly an institution!

Tony's has the freshest catfish...they are still alive and can be fileted on the spot. Their po boys and boudin balls are amazing. Overall they have an amazing selection of fresh seafood. 5 stars all the way.

The deli has a large variety of amazing food; everything I got there was the best I's had in LA. Don't be in a hurry, but expect great food. They also have a wide variety of prepared frozen items to take home and cook yourself, and of course lots of seafood. Highly recommended.

Everything you read and hear is true. Go to Tony's for a great takeout lunch. The crawfish etouffe was excellent even though crawfish are not in season now. Haven't tried the fresh seafood for making meal in my own kitchen but certainly will soon. Prices appeared to be very reasonable on fresh fish.

Just dropped my fiance off to law school at Southern and found Tony's on Yelp in Baton Rouge. This place is off the chain! We ordered the fish and shrimp box, 12 boudin balls, a pint of gumbo and a pound of crawfish and grubbed till we were stuffed! We topped it off with a half dozen hot Krispy Kreme glazed donuts. HEAVEN!! One thing - this is a to-go place only so you have to have a place to take your food to enjoy it. HIGHLY recommended - and super cheap!

  • Mike L.

Tony's is terrific. I had the Cajun boudin balls and the catfish poboy. Boudin balls: Outstanding flavor and texture. Not greasy at all. Probably the best I've ever eaten. Catfish poboy: Fresh bread. Perfect catfish portion with nice flavor. Dressed perfectly. Value: The price was right. Service: No table service, but the food came out just fine. Atmosphere: I love the atmosphere. Tony's is in a part of town populated by black Americans, most of whom are from a lower socio-economic class position. However, there you can find all types of people in the place. They sell frozen boudin balls, crawfish pies, and lots of cooking foods and products. You can stand next to the open air fresh fish tank, and see your food being prepared. My only issue is that there is no place to eat your meal - it's takeaway only. But it forces you to be creative and find a picnic spot.

  • Tallman F.

As a fish market - it is great!!! There are all kinds of things that to purchase and to take home, like frozen alligator meat and much much more. As an eating establishment you have to figure out how to order your food from the three various counters on the side of the establishment. The fried food was ok at best. I had just had some boudin balls form NO the previous day, these were no where close, to me. The fried shrimp was a little above average .... the fried catfish was just ok. It is worth going to for a lunch or something but not a special trip. the portions were not overwhelming as some of the reviews made me believe .. all in all, it was better than average by a whisper.

    (4)
  • Nicole S.

I was a little overwhelmed by this place initially. So, prepare yourself as Tony's is a seafood market, a buffet style cafe, and a cajun food supply store. I am originally from Lake Charles, LA and was craving boudin balls and gumbo as good as homes and was directed here. The boudin balls are SMALL and just okay-nothing to write home about. The gumbo was of poor quality with a thick roux, and small amount of meat. Also, file' should be optional as real cajuns do not depend so heavily on it..oh, for your own sake, please skip the okra gumbo, its a big, slimy mess that is nostalgic of milk of magnesium in viscosity. All in all, I was not impressed and will not return..

  • Maynard G.

Cajun food is all new to me. Friendly manager. Food I tried: Boudin balls, OK, no big deal. Cooked shrimp. Argh! Salty! What do they do, soak it in brine? Crawfish etouffee, this was the only one I liked. Well, that's just me. Obviously all their millions of customers love it. Lots of armed security tells you what central Baton Rouge is like these days.

    (2)
  • Jaire Q.

My first taste of Cajun food, and it was worh it! I had the best food yet at this place. The place smelled a little fishy but as a fish maket I guess there has to be a compromise. I had some boudin balls and they were great! I also had their gumbo and hhhhmmmm...hhhmmmm...hmmmm I havent gotten it out of my taste buds yet! I really loved their food and It really is worth the drive!! well, maybe if you are passing by Baton Rouge! I recommend it to anyone wanting some delicous inexpensive cajun food.

    (4)
  • Steve M.

Tony's is very good but I find it a bit over rated. This is basically cafeteria food of a cajun nature. I normally get the shrimp lunch plate. The boudin balls are what they are famous for and rightfully so. I did get violently ill once after eating a link of boudin for lunch. As stated, this is not a resturaunt. This is a market. You stand in the serving line, tell them what you want as you go down the line, pay and leave.

    (3)
  • Ryan W.

Baton Rouge food walks an intersting line somewhere between Cajun food and Creole food. Most is very similar to both, but qualifies as neither. In any case it is 100% Southern Louisiana and this place epitomizes it. The prepared food here is great, but what is even better is the market. This is THE BEST place to get fresh seafood in the whole BR area. The best catfish fillets I've ever had came from here.

    (5)
  • Lesley D.

OMG! The cajun boudin balls are the best. They have an excellent muffaletta too. I just wish they had seating inside so we didn't have to eat in the car or take the food home.

You must go if you are within 50 miles of this place. Anything and everything you have here is fantastic. It is a bit overwhelming when you go in as there is so much food to choose from and all the wonderful smells pull you in separate directions. I have had crawfish, marinated crab claws and the ever famously fabulous boudin balls. My mouth is watering at the mere thought of them right now. An absolutely great place that is actually a family owned business. So go support the local economy and your gluttonous ways as soon as you can.

I was only here for 1 day, wanted to get the full experience of the culture, and found this review on tony's. its definitely the local's place to eat. not a restaurant but a cafeteria style/grocery store take out kinda place. everything looks fresh and cooked to the cajun tradition, fatty and fried! it's located in a very busy, crappy part of town and parking was hard to come by at 6pm when everyone's bringing home dinner. the boudin balls is the popular item here and comes in a few flavors to please any seafood appetite. it's obviously not good for you but tasty and worth trying at least once.

Oh yes, this place epitomizes the culture of food of Baton Rouge. A must stop for every out of town visitor and of course a regular for most living in the city. Lived here for a while and was a regular. Best Boudin Balls I have found without a doubt. It's a dive and seafood market...but that's what it's all about! Just go, not for the weak stomach and sensitive type. It's going to smell like a fish house.

This place was a culture shock for me as I am from NJ! When you walk in there are live fish swimming in huge tanks and you can get live seafood of all types! I bought two huge lobsters wich they boiled for me right there, I bought shrimp and crab too. It wasn't too spicy for me and it was enough for my whole family. They were so friendly, gave me free boudan balls an other things to try as well as corn/potatoes! I love it here!

The fast friendly service is great but the fried catfish is the best I've had in Baton Rouge! Can't wait to try everything else. Thanks Tony's.

i've been going to tony's since i was a baby. i could walk there for lunch during my years at redemptorist. while at lsu, i made the drive weekly. now that i'm in san francisco, tony's is one of the things i most look forward to on my trips home. just can't *get* that stuff on the west coast, darnit. no worries ... i stop by on my way to the airport, and tony's makes me an airplane package. even with delayed flights, my crawfish and boudin balls are still frozen when i walk in my front door. i love tony's. you will too!

Love/love/love this place. The seafood is indeed very fresh. One poster said the fish were raised there. That is not the case. The catfish are trucked in from a farm in Mississippi. If you're there when they're unloading them (through a large pipe that goes from the truck into the pond), it's a lot of fun for the kids to see.

After all of the hype associated with this place, I was let down. The food was not bad, but it was not great either. I ordered two seafood boxes; one combo (fried fish, shrimp, and oysters) and one crawfish tails. The seafood was ok, the slaw was not good at all (it had pickle relish in it), and the fries were not very well seasoned. Also, I found a hair in the combo seafood box. On the other hand, there were many other options that I did not try. There is a hot plate lunch option in the deli. You can also buy fresh seafood to cook yourself or already boiled crawfish/shrimp, etc. I would give this place another try, but probably avoid the seafood boxes.

This is by far the best sea food I have ever eaten, HANDS DOWN. My husband and I were driving back to Little Rock from New Orleans. My husband Being the seafood/ boudin maniac he is wanted to try to find some good ol boudin before we left Louisiana for home. We found Tony's right here on Yelp. We drove a total of 90 min out of our way to try this place, and let me tell ya, I don't regret it one bit. From seasoning to prices Tony's rocks! The box meal we got consisted of fried catfish, shrimp and oysters and a Cajun boudin ball. The servings were plentiful, enough for us to split and stil be satisfied. The extra large box was 9.99! The food was fresh and unlike anything I have ever tasted. I had never tried boudin before, and it was even good. It was just the right kind of spicy and had a great balancing of rice and meat. They were reasonable in price and hardy on the serving side. The links were huge! I would have taken a picture but by the time I thought about it, we had already inhaled our meal, it was that good. They also had a fresh seafood side to the establishment. I had never seen anything like that before, so that was also a great experiance. This place will most definately get a second visit from us next time we are in the Baton Rouge area. I would reccomend Tony's to anyone and everyone! Go To Tony's you won't regret it!!!

Tony's has been a seafood staple here for as long as I can remember. Now that I'm back in town, I remember why. They have a tremendous selection of fresh seafood at good prices. What stood out for me on my most recent visit was their customer service. It was top notch. One of the guys filled my bag with 12 pounds of boiled crawfish. He was real friendly, asked me if I was getting ready for the LSU-Texas basketball game later that day, etc. As soon as he handed the bag to me, a fresh batch of hot crawfish came out from the back. He offered to dump my bag and refill it with the hot ones. Very nice of him to do that. Another guy noticed I was there with my two young nieces and brought them a live crawfish to look at. That's just good people. And of course, the crawfish and shrimp rocked -- seasoned to perfection.

Found this place on Yelp, decided to make a stop by for lunch during our return trip from Florida to Texas. Personally I use sites like Yelp.com in hopes of uncovering those places that don't get rated by Michelin, The New York Times, Restaurant Magazine, and Tony's for me is one of those places. Upon entry one would think this place to be solely a fresh seafood market, but exploring further the lucky wanderer will stumble upon a hot line of good old fashion cajun fare. I wish I had a stomach big enough to sample every dish on display. Our group had a decent variety of choices to please my curiosity partially. My order, an oyster po-boy, with a side of boudin and a cup of seafood gumbo to wash it all down. Overall a good food experience. Why four stars and nor five? Lack of an eating/sitting area.
